Reserve team management depart 20th October 2008

The Reserve team management team of Anthony Ferguson and Barry Todd have resigned – They will be replaced by Michael Thompson as Manager, assisted by current reserves player Dan Kokun and we wish them well in their new roles.

Player update 20th October 2008

We welcome the return of Abraham Adejokun and also new signing Johnny Oli. Steve Bourne has joined Heybridge Swifts and we thank him for his efforts for us and we wish him success in the Isthmian League Premier Division

Cup draws 20th October 2008

In the Essex Senior League Cup quarter final draw the runners up in our group will play the winners of group D.  As Enfield 1893 has won the group we will be aiming to achieve second place in which case our opponents would probably be Barkingside although Sawbridgeworth Town would be a possibility. We have two remaining games at home to Southend Manor on October 28th and Hullbridge Sports on November 11th. The quarter final two legs are scheduled for November 22nd and December 13th.  

Under 16s beaten on on penalties 20th October 2008

London FA Youth Cup - First Round - Our Lady B 3 Barking FC 3 - AET - Our Lady won 5-3 on penalties

The Under 16s suffered defeat in the first round of the of London FA Youth Cup yesterday – Manager Stuart Cook reports:

After a slow start, we found ourselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes. This woke Barking up but despite dominating the rest of the half we had to wait untill the stroke of half time when Josh Pells LOWBRIDGE pulled one back . Barking come out fighting in the 2nd half and a good run and cross from left back Joao Rodrigues allowed Josh Pells LOWBRIDGE to make it 2-2. Barking then pushed for a winner but got caught out and Our Lady went 3-2 up but Barking continued to push forward and with few minutes left an Own GOAL made the game go to extra time.

There were no goals in extra time untill thirty seconds from the end Daniel Gillard broke through to score - the referee initially gave the goal but the on the advice of the linesman provided by Our Lady disallowed it for a foul. The game went to penalties which Barking lost 5-3.

Representative honours for Under 16s 20th October 2008

Congratulations to Danny Ford and Sam Bradley who have been selected by the London F A for the Under 16 match against Kent next Sunday.

This means the Under 16's game next Sunday against Wingate & Finchley has now been postponed.

Under 16s chalk another league win 13th October 2008

Eastern Junior Alliance - Ilford 0 (0) Barking 6 (1)

The Under 16s continued in their winning ways yesterday with another local derby win, this time away to Ilford

Manager Stuart Cook reports - despite dominating Barking had to wait untill the 44th minute when a cross come shot (he said it was a shot) from Josh Pells LOWBRIDGE flew in over the keepers head.  In the second half the Under 16’s turned their possession into goals, with Daniel GILLARD making it 2-0. Sanmi ODELUSI made it three and a second from Josh Pells LOWBRIDGE made it four, G O D himself Kai GOODEN got his first Barking goal and captain Sam BRADLEY rounded of the scoring for a final score of 6-0. That is eleven goals in two games and two clean sheets for the Under 16’s.  

Next Sunday the Under 16's are away to Our Lady FC B in the first round of the London FA Youth cup.

Squad news 12th October 2008

Jimmy Noakes - back SaturdayThe good news is that Jamie Murat can return after suspension on Tuesday followed by Jimmy Noakes on Saturday. The bad news is that at the time of writing Duane Miller is ill, Kye Ruel, Bradley Ross, Jared Small, Danny Brooks, Richard Whiteman, Scott Borthwick and Sam Dennis are injured, Joey Dankwa is currently unavailable and Chris Mogekwu is frequently unavailable due to the demands of his studies (Chris is studying to be a Doctor).

Essex Senior Cup draw 12th October 2008

Jimmy Noakes - back SaturdayFollowing last Tuesdays win against Tiptree on penalties, in the Essex Senior Cup third round we have been drawn away to Heybridge Swifts who are currently bottom of the Ryman Isthmian League Premier Division with one victory in 11 games.

Under 16s win local derby 6th October 2008

Eastern Junior Alliance - Barking 5 (2) Dagenham & Redbridge 0 (0)

Barking got their first league points of the season with this local derby victory. Captain Sam BRADLEY opened the scoring. good work from Michael Jay allowed Daniel GILLARD to score for a 2-0 half time lead. Danny FORD made if 3-0 then a pass from Afolabi Ajibawo allowed Sanmi ODELUSI to make it 4-0 and a  Leon SMITH 25 yard free kick rounded of a great team performance against one of the top sides in this league

Next week the Under 16's are in league action again when they are away in another local derby against Ilford.

Ilford friendly 1st October 2008

Last night Barking took on Ilford in a friendly match arranged at short notice to give both sides much needed match practice for various players in both camps.

Barking emerged victorous with a 3-1 win which hopefully will give them added impetus when they travel to Southend Manor in an important league cup group game on Saturday.

London FA Youth Cup - Preliminary Round - Russellers FC 1 Barking FC 4

On Sunday afternoon Barking finally got their season up and running with this London FA Youth cup victory. A Daniel GILLARD header gave the visitors a early lead, Russellers made it 1-1 midway though the first half. However, the Barking side then took control creating and missing numerous chances -  they had to wait until midway through the second half before Josh Pells LOWBRIDGE made it 2-1 Sam BRADLEY then scored a great individual goal, but was bettered by Michael JAY who scored the goal of the game with a 25 yard strike to make the final score a 4-1. 

The Under 16's will be away on October 19th in the first round of this competition

Next week the Under 16's are in back to the league when they are at home in a local derby to Dagenham & Redbridge.
