| Injuries 22nd October 2002 |
|
The club has suffered a serious blow as Goalkeeper Robin Ruston will miss the rest of the season as he recovers from injuring his cruciate ligament in the first minute of Saturday's Reserve game against Maldon but carried on playing and did not realise the full extent of his injury until he awoke the next morning. This is a serious blow for Robin who is currently on crutches and hoped to challenge for the first team spot he occupied for most of last season. Our best wishes go out to him for a speedy recovery.

| Super supporter 8th October 2002 |
|
Brad Robinson-lifelong supporter, club shop founder and operator of the player sponsorship. Organiser and driving force behind the supporters' club which he helped to re-found after a gap of many years and past winner of the Clubman of the Year trophy. Brad has often dug deeply into his own pocket/bank account to support the football club in various ways and raised several hundred pounds personally by his participation in Mark Harris's sponsored walk to Barklngslde last season. Is there no limit to this man's dedication ? Apparently not, he is certainly not daunted by a walk of over 20 miles which he will undertake on November 9th to Uxbridge. Arriving in time for the kick off of Barking's match. Brad is seeking to raise further funds for ground Improvements and sponsorship forms will be available from the supporters club or Mark Harris. He is doing the hard work and we should all sign up to support him our super supporter.

Development Manager and Community and Schools Liaison Officer Mark Harris and Player Manager Richard Thomas have been busy organising, among other things, liaison with schools. So far they are working with All Saints and Gascoigne schools and approaches have been made to all the schools in the borough. They are providing coaching sessions as part of All Saints School's Lads and Dads course which aims to help to alleviate alienation problems. Richard Thomas and his father Rob Thomas are both personally involved in the coaching as well as setting an example of a successful father/son relationship. Additionally Mark Harris is organising a writing competition with the winning entry to be published in a home match programme. Similar work is being undertaken at Gascoigne School including an After School Club.
