Under 16's update 17th November 2008

The Under 16's have had a mixed couple of weeks in the Eastern Junior Alliance in the last two weeks with a defeat and a win - Manager Stuart Cook writes:

12/11/08  Norseman (5) 5  Under 16’s (0) 1

Another poor first half performance cost Barking again as they found themselves 5-0 down after 30 minutes.  Despite a much better second half in which Sanmi ODELUSI netted Barking’s consolation goal the damage was done in a poor first half.

19/11/08  Romford (0) 1  Under 16’s (0) 4

Barking put in a solid team performance after last week’s poor showing. A tight first half ended goalless because of a great save from Ryan Prainer. Ten minutes into the second half a Leon SMITH free kick put Barking one up then Kia GOODEN followed up a spilled shot to make it 2-0. Barking continued to push forward  and a 25 yard shot from Marcus Privett was pushed onto the bar . Romford then pulled a goal back and put our side under real pressure then good work and cross from Daniel Gillard allowed Sam BRADLEY to head a superb goal for 3-1 then a shot from Danny Ford was going in but Daniel GILLARD nicked it on the goal line for a 4-1 victory.

Dave Ross departs 9th November 2008

Dave Ross - departingAfter Saturday’s 4-1 defeat by Takeley Dave Ross stepped down as manager of Barking FC by mutual consent and has left the club. We would like to thank Dave for all his hard work for the club and to wish him success in the future.
After interviewing a few people we have settled on Steve Munday as our new manager. Steve had an impressive playing career for Barking and Ford United (now Redbridge) in the Isthmian (Ryman) League and has been working with Dave Ross as part of our management team so his appointment ensures continuity.  We hope that Steve can take the club forward.
Steve takes over at a difficult time with the club bottom of the Essex Senior League - our  lowest position ever in senior football in 129 years and the lowest possible in our section of the national pyramid. We have won just twice in 22 games with the last victory being 15 games ago on September 2nd and we have conceded four or more goals ten times.
