League constitution proposal for 03-04 27th May 2003

It has been proposed that six teams leave Division 1 North - they are : Hornchurch, Northwood (Promoted), Wembley, Hertford Town (Relegated), Slough, Marlow (transferred to Division 1 South). The following teams join Boreham Wood; Enfield, Chesham United (Relegated), Cheshunt, Leyton, Dunstable Town (Promoted). To further muddy the waters Leyton Pennant have changed their name to Waltham Forest FC.

The full line up is:-

Aveley, Arlesey Town, Barking & East Ham United, Barton Rovers, Berkhamsted Town, Boreham Wood, Chesham United, Cheshunt, Dunstable, East Thurrock United, Enfield, Great Wakering Rovers, Harlow Town,  Hemel Hempstead Town, Leyton, Oxford City, Thame United, Tilbury, Uxbridge, Waltham Forest, Wealdstone, Wingate & Finchley, Wivenhoe Town, Yeading.

The proposal will have to be ratified at the League AGM in June.

Youth teams for 03-04 19th May 2003

Next season will see the re-instatement of male youth teams after a break of several seasons. The Under 18 and Under 16 teams will play in the Eastern Junior Alliance, in which the club enjoyed great success with its last venture into youth football. The players will come initially from Forest Gate FC but other players will be welcome. The Under 18s will be run by Dee Sager and Keith Clarke with Calvin Gentle and Rupert Nelson looking after the Under 16s. Dee said that they are looking to the future with a view to eventually setting up a school of excellence.

Next season 19th May 2003

There will be a mixture of the familiar and the new at Barking and East Ham United next season with manager Richard Thomas set to continue his quest to combine success with attractive football, reserves manager Dorian West looking forward to the challenge of the Essex and Hertfordshire Border Combination Premier Division following last season’s promotion as Division 1 runners up and physiotherapist Donna Smith confirming that she will continue in this role. Donna also intends to open a clinic – more details when available.

Awards 19th May 2003

The club dinner last Friday evening was a successful and enjoyable occasion at which the Players’ Player of the Season award was presented to goalkeeper Lee Richards with Jamie Dormer coming second in a reverse to the supporters poll. Former West Ham player Brian Banks, who runs the company which provides transport to away matches, presented his personal award for consistent away performances to Dean Cleaver. The Club Person of the season is Les Wilson who continues to play a vital part in club administration despite his age of 80 something and an example to us all.

Fixtures 19th May 2003
The club has announced its first pre-season friendly which will be away to Barkingside on Wednesday July 30th at the Bank of England sports ground Loughton kick off 7:30pm. Negotiations are also in progress with, among others, Ford United and Grays Athletic for other matches prior to the start of the Ryman League on August 16th. 
Reserves update 15th May 2003
The Reserves finished Runners up to Purfleet as the Essex & Herts Border Combination league programme has been completed. The Final League Table :-

League (Re)structure 15th May 2003
Secretary Roger Chilvers has advised of the following developments - All three clubs relegated from Division 1 will go into Division 2 Leyton and Cheshunt will be promoted to Division 1. Other applications to join the league are being considered following a request by a Division 1 club the League management committee is considering the possibility of changing to an East/West split in Division 1 next season The League AGM is on 16th June and the proposed Division 1 structure/membership should be known before that date.
Other news 5th May 2003
Former Blue Danny Clarke finished as Essex Senior League champions Enfield Town’s leading scorer with 24 goals. Despite this we will not be seeing Enfield’s “other” team in the Ryman League next season as unfortunately their ground does not reach the required standard. Chelmsford City is understood to have indicated that they will apply to join the Ryman League Premier Division from next season.
Player of the year awards 1st May 2003
After tonight's game against Oxford City Chairman John Edgeworth presented the annual Player of Year award organised by the Supporters Club. In true Miss World fashion here is the result in reverse order:-
