The Blues management team has today been extended with the appointment of Jim Stannard as Head Coach. Jim is a former professional goalkeeper with Fulham and Gillingham and has previously served Redbridge as Manager; he is currently goalkeeping coach with both Leyton Orient and Gillingham.

New Manager appointed 12th June 2007

Barking FC has acted quickly to appoint a new manager to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Jay Devereux.

Well known Essex football man Rod Stringer, former manager of Barkingside and assistant manager of Sawbridgeworth Town, will be putting his considerable experience to good use as he seeks to improve on the sixth place finish in our initial Essex Senior League season. There will be additional valuable managerial experience available to the Blues as Rod’s assistant manager is former Concord Rangers manager Eddie Crace. The managerial team will be further strengthened by the news that current Reserve team manager Dave Ross will continue to lead the reserves in the Essex, Herts and Bordering Counties League. Before managing the reserves Dave had an exceptionally successful career as youth team manager and many of his discoveries have graduated to senior football. Last season his reserve side won the Fred Budden Trophy.

The club is already building for the new season and training will commence on July 3rd.

Chairman and former Manager Dennis Elliott has left the club and we would like to thank him for helping to ensure the club’s survival during the difficult period following the tragic death of former chairman Peter Webster. Dennis took us to the Southern League Division 1 play offs in successive seasons before we were forced by circumstances to join the Essex Senior League last summer.

The session starts at 10am and the club is keen to see girls from all ages and ability. The clubs aim is to help girls/women in the borough and surrounding areas to come along enjoy themselves, they are not looking for the next football superstar, just to give young females a chance to try their hand - or should we say foot at football. Barking Ladies are a Charter Standard Club and is committed to supplying training and competitive football throughout the season, regardless of ability.

Chairman Debbie Moore quoted 'We are very happy to be successful in receiving funding from the Local Network Fund.  We have had great success from our open days and really enjoy putting them on. We are keen to see girls of all ages attend; we are hoping to form at least a new under 10 age group from the open day. We have also received funding for equipment, a new team kit and funding towards running the club. We will also be looking to >run training courses for the girls throughout the summer holidays, without help like we have just received, we would not be able to do so.'

Anyone interested in coming along on June 10th for a most enjoyable day, or if you are interested in becoming a junior coach contact Debbie for more information.
