Reserves update 24th February 2003

Although they did not play on Saturday the Reserves slipped a further three points behind Purfleet who beat Basildon United Reserves 2-0 to extend their lead to six points. The Reserves next game is on Saturday when they are away to Stansted Reserves. Latest table:-

Signings 24th February 2003

Richard Thomas has made an exciting and significant signing with the capture of Joe Nartey from Hornchurch. Joe, 26, is a striker with a proven track record, having scored 29 goals in a Premier Division season for Aldershot and his other clubs include Chesham United. He will be eligible for selection for Tuesday’s match at Arlesey.

Injuries/Suspension 24th February 2003

Jay Murray has been playing with a foot injury and has been advised by Physiotherapist Donna Smith to rest to allow a full recovery

Under 16's up for the cup 23rd February 2003

Next Sunday (March 2nd) the Ladies Under 16's team travel to the Mile End Stadium for the Final of the London F.A. Under 16 County Cup. The team will take on Kent Magpies who they drew with 2-2 in a pre-season friendly. The match will kick off at 3pm

Good Luck to the Under 16's and hopefully they will be returning with the silverware.

 

London Senior Cup update 19th February 2003
The Blues now know the prize if they beat the Metropolitan Police on March 18th, it always going to be a trip to Oakside but the opposition will be the Motormen of Ford United who beat Barkingside 2-1 last night.
Reserves update 17th February 2003
The Reserves failed to extend their unbeaten sixteen league game run and narrowly missed out on equalling the club record of seventeen games set in the Athenian League in season 1924-25. They were beaten 2-1 away to St Alban's City Reserves. Latest League table:-

Injuries/Suspension 17th February 2003
The latest update on Sam Taylor is that he has been told to rest and do gentle exercise for two weeks, after which his injury will be assessed. However, he looks certain to miss several weeks. On the suspension front Jamie Dormer is available after tomorrow night's game against Tilbury - below is a full run down of who will be missing in the forthcoming weeks:- Tilbury (Ben Willis/Jamie Dormer) Slough Town (Ben Willis/Michael Black) Arlesey Town (Ben Willis) Wealdstone (Simon Tickner) Terry Scotchmer will be suspended for five weeks from March 3rd after his dismissal while playing for the Reserves on January 15th against Sawbridgeworth Town in the Fred Budden trophy. 
Ladies through to final 16th February 2003
Barking Ladies won through this afternoon to the final of the Essex FA County Cup by 4-1 against Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies at Mayesbrook Park this afternoon. After being 0-1 down at the interval they hit back with four second half goals. The final will be on March 30th at Maldon Town FC kick off 10:30 am.
Fixtures update 13th February 2003
Last nights Reserve game against Harlow Town was postponed and will now be rescheduled. The London Senior Cup fourth round tie against Metropolitan Police has been arranged for Tuesday March 18th, the away match versus Thame United postponed from February 1st has been rearranged for Tuesday March 25th and the Oxford City home game postponed on Tuesday has been rescheduled for Tuesday April 29th kick off 7:45pm.
Ladies fight for local pride 12th February 2003
This forthcoming Sunday Barking Ladies take a break from the league fand entertain local rivals Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies for a place in the final of Essex County Cup. The match is at Mayesbrook Park kick off 1:30pm so come along and cheer them on.
Injuries/Suspension 11th February 2003
If tonight's match against Oxford City had gone ahead we would of been without Ben Willis and Jamie Dormer through suspension and possibly Simon Tickner and Richard b who both picked up injuries on Saturday. Sam Taylor will definitely be missing for several games following his injury which saw him carried off against Tooting and Mitcham United.- Physiotherapist Donna Smith has provisionally diagnosed this as a knee medial ligament problem. Dormer will be available for selection after next Tuesday's game against Tilbury and Willis will be available after the Wealdstone fixture on March 1st. On a brighter note Billy Read and Jay Murray are back although Jay’s foot injury is not fully healed. Also, Jason Friend’s suspension ended on February 9th.
Reserves update 9th February 2003
The Reserves went level on points with Purfleet after a 2-0 win over Maldon Town Reserves at Mayesbrook Park yesterday. Latest League table:-

The Reserves next games are both away, first on Wednesday 12th February they travel to Harlow Town and next Saturday (15th February) they visit St Alban's City. Both are league games in the Essex & Herts Border Combination Division 1.

Ladies plan ahead 8th February 2003
Barking Ladies have announced that due to large squads at Under 11 and Under 10 level, the club will now field a second Under 11 team for friendly matches on Saturdays for those girls not taking part in League games. The team will be under the Managership of Senior Player Leanne Couch, who has been assisting with the training all season. Leanne will become the first female Manager of any of the Club teams. Also, announced are the Clubs plans for next season.:- The club will continue to run two Senior Teams for players aged fifteen years and over The Junior Section will consist of the following teams :- Under 15: 11-a-side : Hertfordshire Girls League Under 14: 11-a-side : Essex Girls League Under 13 11-a-side : Hertfordshire Girls League Under 12: 11-a-side : Hertfordshire Girls League Under 11A: 7-a-side: Hertfordshire Girls League Under 11B: 7-a-side: Essex Girls League Under 10A: 7-a-side: Hertfordshire Girls League Under 10B: 7-a-side: Essex Girls League Under 8: Training only for ages 6 & 7 The club will need to recruit a number of new players for some of these teams, and will undertake a poster and advertising campaign with Training/Trails to commence at the end of February with a view to playing some friendlies in April and May as the current League season ends.

The Reserves kept up their charge for promotion with a 2-1 win over Basildon Reserves at Mayesbrook Park - Latest League table:-

This extends their unbeaten League run to fifteen games and for anybody not going to Great Wakering on Saturday the Reserves are at home to Maldon Town Reserves kick-off 3pm.

Signings 6th February 2003
Following his capture of defensive midfield player Gary Wraight from Harlow Town Richard Thomas has turned to Italy for his 37th signing of the season in the form of Fabrizio Panebarco. This signing further increases the cosmopolitan flavour of Barking's squad which already contained representatives of England, France, Ireland and St Lucia. 22 year old Fabrizio, who has been in England for five months, previously played for S.Gemini in Italy and made his first team bow against Southend Manor last Thursday.
