APSA off/Sawbo change 29th August 2007

On Saturday September 8th we were due to visit London APSA in the ESL but they are playing in a national competition and we will instead be at away to Sawbridgeworth Town a game brought forward from March next year.

Volunteers required 26th August 2007

Volunteers are urgently required to augment the few dedicated people who are keeping the club going. Currently due to various circumstances there are less people assisting than previously.

John and Gill Faherty are trying to co-ordinate an effort to bring more volunteers to the club and thereby spread the workload more evenly.

One such role that we urgently need to fill is that of programme editor.

If you feel that can spare some time either before or after a match or in any other capacity that will provide assistance to the club then please see John or Gill after any home game and they will be happy to provide further details. Alternatively if you prefer to e-mail the address is secretary@barking-fc.co.uk

As stated on the left Barking FC needs you and hopefully the feeling is mutual.

Congratulations 26th August 2007

And thanks to James Hughes on reaching 50 appearances for us at senior level plus many more at youth and reserve level. Up to and including the Mauritius game Wayne Vaughan had made 148 appearances so, subject to selection and avoiding injury, he could be about to make his 150th. Since joining us in August 2004 Wayne has scored 64 goals in his 148 games which is an excellent strike rate and which we hope has increased further by the time of reaching his milestone appearance.

New Signing/Injury/Suspension update 26th August 2007

We are happy to welcome our latest signing Joe Lustig a midfielder who previously was with Sawbridgeworth Town last season. Following the welcome return from injury of John Maskell and Billy Sendall, Duane Miller was fit to travel with the Reserves on Saturday and was a scorer in their 7-4 win over Billericay.

On the debit side Jamie Murat has a muscular strain which will keep him out for a week or two and Chris Bullock has a groin strain which will probably make him miss the Eton Manor game on Tuesday evening.

Victor Omogbehin will be suspended for one game following his two yellow cards at Barkingside and will miss either the league game at Beaumont Athletic or a F A Cup replay with Hillingdon Borough next week.

Ladies gear up 22nd August 2007

Barking Ladies have been gearing up for their first game of the new season in the Eastern Region Womens Football League on Sunday 26th August at Mayesbrook Park when they entertain Cambridge United. New signings coupled with players due back from holiday means they will shortly be at full strength.

Manager Steve Bernet commented “The ladies have worked hard pre-season with the majority managing to get holidays over early to enable full steam ahead. The commitment from the ladies has been brilliant. The core of the team has now been playing together for over five years now and we have a couple of new signings which will strengthen the squad further. The ladies and I are looking forward to coming season.”

Barking Ladies was formed in 1988 and have around 80 girls from all ages at the club all committed to training and playing competitive matches in the Eastern Regional Women’s Football League and the Essex County Girls League. They have teams for girls aged eight and upwards and are committed to providing training and competitive football for all girls. There are few openings in the junior section and any teenagers and goalkeepers wishing to try their hand at football and would like to play for Barking should contact Debbie Moore on 07778384478. The club are also looking for a junior team manager for their Under 15’s team, FA badges are not essential as the club will arrange to send them on the necessary courses, again contact Debbie Moore.
