Pre season friendly announced - Wednesday 28th April 2010

The Club are very happy to announce a pre-season friendly at Norwich United on Saturday 24 July. Following the success of our trip to Dereham the year before last this will be a chance for players and supporters alike to travel up and enjoy the surroundings of 'The Planters' picturesque Plantation Park ground. The club is aiming to run a coach up to Norwich with limited places for supporters. We are very grateful to Norwich United secretary Keith Cutmore and also to his counterpart at Dereham, Ray Bayles, for helping to arrange this fixture.

We have played Norwich United on one previous occasion and that was also an ‘away day’ on September 12th 1992 a first qualifying round tie in the FA Cup. We were beaten 2-1, our goal coming from Chris Harvey.

The following Saturday, 31 July, will see Barking host a memorial game with the opponents to be announced. The game will be played for both the Peter Webster Memorial Trophy and the Ron Murrant Memorial Trophy and will be a chance for supporters to remember all those friends we have made through football but that are no longer with us.

More details of the memorial game and the rest of Barking's pre-season progamme will be announced in the coming weeks.
