 This coming Sunday (September 4th) at our Mayesbrook Park home we will be hosting the London City Airport Summer Cup Final. The final will be contested between Dagenham Rejects FC and Portville FC. Dagenham Rejects are managed by former blues keeper Russ Harley who plays in midfield for his side.
Russ has supplied the following information about both sides
Dagenham Rejects
Dagenham originated from a midweek goals team and turned into a Sunday side midway through last season joining city airport league in November and had a very successful season in Division 1 securing promotion to the premier division and making the cup final were they were edged out but league champions Valence. Finishing third in the overall league table.
Portville FC
Although the team Portville has been going for a few years last season was a total change in playing and managing personnel. Karl Smith took the reins and along with Nic Archer started to build a young side around our pivotal captain.
In our first season we finished third in the second division of the London City Airport league and managed to get to three quarter finals, our young side had grown up very fast and they are improving every week.
With a few new additions this season the team has qualified from a very difficult league stage and managed to knock out a higher division team in the semi finals , it will be the clubs first final ever.
The game will kick off at 2pm with gates opening at 12:30pm.
