The Reserves Manager Rob O’Brien has provided a update of the latest news regarding his side:
Last Wednesday night (28th July) saw a Barking Reserve team out play a very strong Thurrock side and beat them 2-0.
We played at the Gateway Academy which is very close to Tilbury FC’s ground. A great facility which the Thurrock boys get to use all the time throughout the season.
Although a little pushed for time but once everyone arrived we got a reasonable warm-up going and the lads had their instructions.
The lads started to get used to the quick surface and the passing and moving was starting to look OK. Eliot CROSBIE worked hard up front and got the opening goal after good work from Horst and Shepperd out wide. Thurrock were in shock as the step 5 reserve team started to pass the ball around them and the Conference south boys could not cope. It wasn't very long after this great spell that Dawid BARANOWSKI found the net against his old team to make it 2-0. Crosbie holding the ball up for Baronowski to finish.
All over the pitch the team stood solid with some very good debuts for Shepperd, Blackburn, Crosbie and King. The back four were also very stubborn and held their line and discipline very well. The creativity and work rate in midfield paved the way for us to build attack after attack. Thurrock were frustrated by not having it their way but did hit the post and both Jimmy and Steve made one good save each to keep the Thurrock boys at bay.
Steve Munday the first team manager was present and was pleasantly please with all the boys performance and said he will include some of them in Saturdays first team game also against Thurrock
Rob concludes:
Well done boys. A good start but you win nothing in friendlies, must continue to work hard and improve.
Squad:
Jimmy Sheppard, Steve Moritz, Sam Shepperd, Andy Thorpe, Dan Kokun, Jason Kane, Jonathan Mogege, Josh Blackburn, Jake King, Dawid Baranowski, Riess Horst, Eliot Crosbie, Jevon Riley, Jeol Washman.
The Reserves have two further friendlies confirmed:

Saturday August 14th - Barnet XI away
Two other away friendlies are still to be finalised
May and Baker
Thurrock.
