February 25th - No balking at Basildon

Big win this for the lads and richly deserved, showed they could get results against the higher placed teams and that's a big psychological boost. To be fair it's been coming for a while, few in the know would begrudge them this, especially after the Hullbridge farce.

At times this wasn't pretty, the pitch saw to that, but there was a togetherness and spirit that in the end edged the encounter. I won't go overboard we certainly didn't batter Basildon, but we did keep knocking on their door and at last found an opening. Need to take this forward now, as I said pre match, 'it's points that matter', we've closed the gap on Clapton and there's other teams in our sights.

Llots of pleasing aspects, but there has been for a while, real unity in this squad, could have permed any 11 from 16 out there tonight and been happy with the outcome, told the subs they could still play a big part tonight and so it proved. Good to see our supporters happy too, stayed behind to clap the players off the pitch and that was a nice touch.

Special mention to Richard Whiteman, led the line with real pride and passion tonight, real Manager's dream this boy and deserved a moment of glory at the end.

Finish with a word of warning, mustn't rest on our laurels after this, still in big trouble at the wrong end of the table and much work to do, this is only a start, same level of commitment needed every time we cross that line from now on.
