Three points the number one priority, so job done on that score. Not pretty but we did pick things up second half, put sustained pressure on the Hullbridge goal and just about deserved the win. Could have been a lot worse, once again dreadful first half, Boss not happy and how he let them know at half time, hairdryer treatment and then some more expletives than a night with Chubby Brown but it seemed to do the trick.
Looked for players to step up second half, by and large they did, Borthwick and Walshy leading the way, whilst all subs made an impact. Terrific finish by Rual, have studied it on video, anticipates knock down by checking back and a clinical strike on end of it. Ducky and Stoney too, assessed the situation and did the business, showed some footballing nous and that was pleasing if not a little unexpected judging by previous displays this season.
Stiffer tests than this ahead but it's a start, Hullbridge had a game plan and stuck to it, made it hard to break them down but at least we kept knocking on the door. Hard work ahead, but three points on the board and hopefully the start of a mini run, interesting to see if we can kick on.
