Large slice of credit to the Boss this week, took sole responsibility for training thursday and all selection matters this weekend, seemed to give a clearer focus this particular match and we run out deserved winners, built up a good tempo and rhythm second half and generally bossed the affair once ahead.
The lads have approached things in a positive manner in recent weeks, some hard work has been put in on the training ground and hopefully some reoccuring faults hopefully now a thing of the past, attitude on match days has also been spot on, squad slowly beginning to gel and i'm sure the best yet to come.
Didn't have it all our own way Saturday, particularly first half, but the goal did settle us and we added a second at a crucial time and that's been missing this season. Killed the game off impressively and could have added to our tally by the end, players shooting from distance second half so another one of the pre-match objectives able to be crossed off.
So cause for optimism but nothing more at this stage, hopefully the springboard for the little run we have been promising to deliver all season but has never quite materialised. Certainly some competition for places now, Russel Harley very impressive on debut, Stoney again showing his worth, whilst three subs all came off the bench and did a job, means that players have to impress in training as well if they really want a shirt and that keeps everyone on their toes. one moan and that's the discipline, game didn't warrant the total number of bookings but the Ref was fair and set out his stall early on, bookings for dissent were unacceptable and it will be addressed, puts you under pressure later in the game as we've seen so many times already this season.
No respite in the schedule and a trip up the M11 to Sawbridgeworth next up, sprung a major surprise at table topping Burnham this week so under no illusions of their quality, don't expect a repeat of our 5-1 success at Crofters End last year but make no mistake we'll be looking to spring our own shock- watch this space.
