Quick warning to the players ahead of next Saturday's trip to second placed Takeley and the main message is not to take our foot off the gas as the season draws to an end. To the contrary we need to approach every game like a cup final, we've still got scores to settle from earlier in the season and now need to focus more than ever.
Gave the players Tuesday off, but turn-out at training on Thursday was disappointing, we've all got commitments but how many would have made it if a game was on?. The turn-out was not good enough, it disrupted what was planned and showed a lack of the professionalism that we're trying to install at this club.
For those present, training was OK, but only OK, not a word I like to use. We need to be excellent in everything we do, quite simply we need more quality in training, we have to train harder, longer and better than other teams to maintain our current momentum, ease up and drop our standards and that's the start of a slippery slope.
Whilst on the subject players also need to embrace and have trust in what the coaches are trying to achieve, saw some players with hands behind their backs looking disinterested during keep ball sessions and that's a disgrace, it will not be tolerated, players with wrong attitude will be bombed so for those that bother to read this - you have been warned.
Don't want to turn this into a rant in the style of Rafa or Kevin Keegan in his headphones as by and large players attitudes have been excellent since the new Management took over. But as i've said many times the new standards are higher, players must appreciate this if we want to progress further, become complacent and we'll get dragged back down- that's not on our agenda.
A few things lined up this week including a friendly Tuesday against Harold Wood. Some excellent teams in the Olympian league and the 'Wood' certainly fit this category, should be a competitive game whatever X1's both teams put out.
Leading us nicely to a little trip up the M11 as we lock horns with Takeley next week. have had a little wobble of late but they'll be keen to maintain their lofty position in the league so it will be a big challenge. Go with confidence on back of three away wins recently, so nothing to fear and hopefully another big scalp to add to the collection.
