Joint top versus fifth from bottom at the start of play but to me not an upset, have been threatening this kind of result all season and finally got our just desserts. Have to now make up for the numerous setbacks we've endured this season and push on towards our rightful place further up the league.
Some credit to the Ref as well, made little fuss about the semi-frozen spot directly under the shadow of the stand when some might have called things off early and collected their money as on previous occasions, his decision was vindicated as an entertaining game ensued.
Didn't have things all our own way as Takeley did come back at us in the last quarter as you would expect from a table topping team, in the end some heroics from Russ Harley guaranteed the points we richly deserved.
Plenty of neutrals at Mayesbrook Park on Saturday as the weather played havoc with other fixtures Periods in the game, our passing and movement particularly impressive and really should have added to our goals tally. Even a golden chance to make things much more comfortable but we seem to like to do things the hard way, Ben Turner miles off target from the spot and took plenty of stick after the game- thankfully didn't come back to haunt us.
So many good individual performances would be unfair to pick out star performers, this was essentially a team effort and to be fair to the lads they deserve a lot of credit. Attitude in recent weeks has been excellent, can't fault turn out and effort in training even from those only on the fringes of the team and a real sense of unity beginning to emerge.
Southend Manor Tuesday and hopefully can build on this, have failed to carve out back to back wins all season so would be a great time to start- here's hoping for a spectacular start to 2010.
