Disappointing result but plenty of positives from the game. Tough opposition but felt we bossed proceedings early doors, used the ball intelligently and gave the home side problems down the flanks. Allowed things to get a bit stretched after that, played into Takeley's hands, the're a good side and in the end took full advantage.
Must be more ruthless when on top, golden chance for Steads but we failed to take full advantage. Instead of going in ahead at the break, we're behind and now chasing the game. Lack of professionalism for the goal, down to ten men with players fussing about tie ups, that was really galling, little details these but they can come back and bite you realy hard as this showed.
Plenty of effort all round, no complaints on that score just lacked a bit of nous to unlock a resolute Takeley defence. Didn't get the ball into danger areas often enough, so never really tested the home goalie.
Second goal killed us off and perhaps an unfair reflection on the game, Takeley centre forward a handful and lessons to learn in dealing with difficult, aggressive opponents.
Onto Southend Manor Tuesday night and straight away a chance to get back on track, games coming thick and fast so still time to make the kind of start we're after.
