At the beginning of this season Woodville's lease on the Vicarage Field expired and they were unable to find a new playing surface. It was thought by "Rambler" the sport's correspondent for the Barking Advertiser, that the London Caledonian club, who had taken over the ground, would share it with them. However, his dream was not to be fulfilled and Woodville thus disbanded.
A few weeks later he wrote:-
"It seems that the Caledonian are going to have a thoroughly successful season at Barking. The people are quickly learning to forget their former favourites, the Barking Woodville, and their love of good sport certainly draws them to the Vicarage ground. The Caleys were definitely firm favourites with the citizens of the town, and they drew in large attendances for most of their fixtures, but they were to remain there for only one season."
At the same time Barking Institute were rising to fame, and becoming rivals to the domination of the Scots.
